eat this~

Things just look good when hung in mass. I did this last year and recently took it down- but I just love all those illuminated threads. This would look great over a dining room table.

light it up, part deux

I became so obsessed with the light boxes I made in Greensboro that I made several of a different variety in Rockville. I just love illumination and creating depth by layering materials and backlighting them.

Cosmosis

These images were taken at my senior art show in college. For my thesis I did large black and white illustrations on vellum, drawing different organic matter that related to each other in form. The panels hung horizontally overhead, and I built a simple bench to lay upon and view the work.

All Hung Up

This is a piece I did last year at work. It was greatly inspired by a Dan Steinhilber sculpture, The mechanics of it were very simple and the materials cheap- I bought the hangers at a dry cleaning supply warehouse, and some were then covered in fabric. This is certainly one of my favorite installations from last year.

now serving...

this is a recent installation that I did at work- paper plates- inspired by tara donovan- one of my new favorite artists. I also inserted mini sampler cups. it reminds me of barnacles and shells. i love the texture of the edges. I'll never look at my barbeque sauce smothered disposable plate the same way again...

akin to quilling...

this is a piece i recently installed in a private home. it's hundred of laminated paper strips, curved and stapled together. i always love new mediums- and it was a lovely experience to collaborate with this client. i am still deliberating a title- it reminds us of many things- migrations, osmosis, topography, the dreaming...

light it up!

i havent posted in ages, but im feeling ready to attempt it again. these are the lightboxes i was assigned to make recently- out of packing tape. i love how the light diffuses through, and how humble the materials are.
